Status Report, July 2011

It seems like an age since we told anyone what we’re up to (our sporadic Twitter updates notwithstanding), so it seems like a good time for us to sit down and bring you up to date. We were hoping to have some “multimedia” (remember the 90s?) to go along with this, but events have conspired against that, unfortunately.

We’ve been in the studio recording several new songs towards our first full-length LP, which has currently no real title besides the imaginative working title of “LP1”. There are about six songs in various states of completion, and a few more than that written but not yet committed to tape in any meaningful way.

Tonight, we laid down a drum track for a song called “Frame of Reference”, which you can see us playing live here:

A bit of trivia: this was the very first song written by Rhys & Chris, before Jon joined and before City Seventeen was a real thing. That dates it to about 2005 if our collective memory serves us. Needless to say, it sounds a lot different now than it did then.

We’ve also confirmed for this year’s Wish You Were Here festival on the 2nd October, though exact details aren’t confirmed yet so we can’t say any more, other than we’re really excited about it!
